Celebrating Women in Construction Week!
This week we recognize Women in Construction Week – we highlight the talent, resilience and important roles women play in building our spaces and shaping the future.
Our Project Support Co-Ordinator, Dominee Sewell, shares her experience of working in construction at Vertec:
“Joining Vertec just over two years ago meant stepping into a world I knew very little about, which was initially daunting. However, I knew many of the skills I had developed in other industries would be transferable.
I started by coordinating the logistics of hire machinery, equipment and our own stock, while learning as much as I could about both the refurbishment and new build sides of the business. Within a year I had expanded my knowledge and moved into a Buyer role.
Now, approaching my two-year anniversary, I’ve begun a new role supporting our new build projects, working across different locations and contributing to many of the elements involved in delivering our work.
Vertec gives people the opportunity to grow their knowledge and experience. Whether you have years of construction experience, are new to the industry, or have transferable skills, they all count. As Vertec continues to grow, so do the people within it – and I’m proud to be one example of that.”
